cabbage/turnip mustard saute

I do sincerely apologize for not posting in sometime.  I was having some difficulties with my laptop and since then I have recently received a new netbook for my birthday so I blog away I go.

This is one of the most beautifully exquisite side dishes that I have thrown together in a long time.  It is so easy and so healthful I couldn't help but share it with you.  This came together while I was searching through my fridge for ingredients that I needed to use up.

While searching through my fridge I found the following items
  • Dijon mustard
  • lemons
  • butter
  • cabbage
  • turnip
  • fresh basil
  • and fresh parsley

First step is to cut the cabbage and turnip up nice and thin.  Add it to a large pan with 2 tablespoons of butter, salt, and pepper.  Cook it for about 6-8  minutes until it starts to soften a little.

Then pour it out onto a large baking sheet.  Then add in the mustard and lemon juice.  About 3 tablespoons of each.  Mix it together with a spoon and make sure it lays flat on the baking sheet.

Then add in the fresh herbs and bake it at 375 for about 10 minutes.  The result is a crispy side dish that is full of nothing but the good stuff !!

Plate it up with some protein and whole grains and you have yourself one well balanced meal !!

Enjoy !!!
